Saturday January 21st Brickfield (
Away ) League
We started
poor today, not marking, not following our man,
not tracking back and found ourselves 2-0 down
before we even looked like having an attempt on
goal.Second half we changed our shape and looked
a lot more like a team, we put together a few
passes and pressured the brickfield goal, but
they hit us on the break to score and put them
3-0 up.We pulled a goal back when lewis parry
broke from our half and passed to dewi who gave
him the ball back and he hit it low into the
near post. We kept the late pressure on but just
ran out of time to try and get anything from a
poor day on the pitch.

Saturday January 7th Flint Town
( Away ) North East Wales Cup
| After nearly 2 months
without a game we faced flint town utd, we
started the match quite brightly and had a
few chances to put ourselves ahead but we
could not find the killer touch.
Flint scored the only goal of the half
with a minute to go, a simple ball into
the box that we didnt deal with, leaving
a flint player to fire home from close
range.
With gaz griffiths absent today, we then
lost ross at half time to leave both our
centre midfielders missing. We battled
on but we found ourselves 3-0 down after
10 minutes of the second half.
We made a couple more changes and
battled back with 2 goals from Kyle
Jones. This put us on the attacking front
again but a cross/shot from flint blew
straight in over Ceri to make it 4-2.
that goal knocked the stuffing out of us
and the match ended 5-2

Saturday November 26th Ruthin (
Home ) League
|
A strong wind hampered this match, even
putting the nets up was a challenge. We
started kicking against the wind, every
time the ball was in the air it was
coming straight back at us.
We broke clear midway through the 1st
half with a good pass from Ryan Hughes
to Kyle Jones who slotted home to put us
1-0 up at half time.
Second half we started very slow and
paid the price as Ruthin got themselves
back into the match,
but we made a few changes and went on
the attack with Kyle tapping in at the
near post to put us back in the lead.
Some fine footwork from Shay Griffiths
found Kyle on the edge of the box he
then turned his man and shot to complete
his hat rick. Then with the last kick of
the match Kyle shot from 30 yards out
and it flew in the top corner to finish
the match 4-1.
A good effort by the whole team to win
a hard fought match keep it going lads..

Saturday November 19th Gresford
( Away ) North East Wales Cup
|
A good game played on a very muddy
surface today, both teams had a lot of
the ball with chances at both ends.
We started with a different line up
today with Harry Austin and Kyle Davies
coming in and taking there chance to
impress and they did not disappoint
with both of them having really good
games.
We gave away a corner and cleared from
the near post but it went to a Gresford
player who chipped it back in and just
over Ceri to make it 1-0 half time.
With 15 mins gone in the second half we
changed shape and went 3 up front with
Shay Griffiths and Callum Vaughan coming
on. It had an immediate impact as Shay
flicked a header into the path of Kyle
Jones and scored to put us level.
Shay then put Kyle through again and he
got brought down in the box for a
penalty. Kyle scored from the spot to
put us 2-1 up. We changed back to 4-4-2
to protect our lead, with 5 minutes to
go Kyle broke free again to complete his
hat rick.
With the last kick of the match Gresford
pulled one back but we had held our own
against a strong Gresford team to put us
in the next round of the cup.

Saturday November 12th Garden
Village (
Away ) League
|
We started the game really taking the
game to Garden Village, Shay Griffiths
flicked a header on into the path of
inform Ryan Hughes to put us 1-0 up
after only 5 minutes.
After that we should have gone 2 up but
then homeside hit us on the break to
bring the scores level, then our heads
dropped and players went missing in
important parts of the field and started
sulking this led to us being 4-1 down
half time.
A few words of reality and a couple of
changes saw Kyle Jones and Kyle Davies
come off the bench and give loads more
effort and within 2 minutes of the
restart we got it back to 4-2 with Ryan
Hughes getting his second of the match.
Kyle Jones then broke from his own half
to score past the Garden Village keeper
but he paid the price as the keeper
caught him after the ball was in the
net. Kyle had to come off injured with
still 25 minutes to play. Harry Austin
replaced him and put some good balls in
the box but for all our good play and
pressure we could not get the deserved
equaliser

Saturday October 29th Ruthin (
Away ) League
|
After last weeks result
against Ruthin we should have gone for
revenge, but from the start we were too
slow and found ourselves one down. kyle
Jones then had a shot resulting in a
goal only for the ref to say he
was offside even though he shot from
behind a Ruthin player. The home side
then added 2 more to go 3-0 up by half
time.
Second half we actually
had a bit more about us, Kyle again beat
a ruthin player to the ball and scored
only for the ref to disallow it for what
he said was a foul even though it was
just to strong for his opponent in the
challenge. Kyle then actually scored
another goal which the ref did allow
this time. This gave us a boost and we
got another goal from Ryan Hughes to put
us back in the game.
We then pushed Lewis up
front and went for broke but Ruthin
caught us on the break and made it 4-2

Saturday October 22nd Ruthin (
Home ) League Cup
We started very strong today with some good 2 touch
football but just didnt have the killer finish in
front of goal. Ruthin had a free kick out on the
wing, the strong wind blew the kick straight over
and in to the goal leaving
Ceri
no chance of saving it.
We then stood off a Ruthin player allowing him time
to shoot and put the visitors 2-0 up. Then 5 minutes
before half time Shay played a clever pass to split
the defence to enable Kyle Jones to shoot pass the
Ruthin keeper to leave the score 2-1 at half time.
Second half was dominated by Penycae and the
pressure finally paid off when Ryan Hughes shot to
level the game at 2-2. With no further goals in the
match the game went into extra time but still there
was no breakthrough resulting in the match going to
the dreaded penalties. Ruthin missed there first
penalty but unfortunately Penycae missed there's as
well. The visitors then missed there second only for
the referee to order it to be retaken as he hadn't
blown his whistle. We then missed our next two
penalties to put us out of the game. We played
really well and deserved more out of the match, it
was a good competitive match between both teams that
was spoiled by some poor decision by the referee.

Saturday October 8th Gresford (
Home ) League
|
It was one of those days again when your
luck is out. We started the match with
gaz having to go in goal as Ceri has
chipped a bone in her wrist.
We were on the attack for most of the
half and the pressure paid off as kyle
Jones burst down the left and cut in to
shoot, the keeper saved well, the ball
came back out to shay who chipped the
ball from the edge of the area over the
keeper but hit the bar only for Callum
Vaughan to follow up and tap into the
empty net
Then we had 3 minutes off madness where
we let Gresford take the lead and go in
half time at 1-2 down
Second half started with Gresford on the
attack, some good defending by Lewis
Parry and Robbie Mates kept them out. We
hit them on the break and Kyle Jones ran
in the box, the keeper caught him and we
had a penalty which kyle then scored.
A draw would have been a fair result in
this match as both teams battled hard
and Gresford got their reward in the
dying minutes when 2 players both called
for the ball then left it, only for the
ball to cross the box giving Gresford an
open goal to make it 3-2.

Saturday September 24th Chirk (
Away ) League
|
The match started with both teams having
lots of the ball, Chirk took the lead
early on only for us to score 2 minutes
later with a long range shot from Lewis
parry.
Chirk then took the lead again with a
goal from a corner, we managed to draw
level again when Shay Griffiths ran
through and put the ball past the
advancing keeper.
Again we let Chirk go ahead with a goal
from far out right on the stroke of half
time but back came Penycae when Lewis
parry shot from outside the box, it
looked like it was going in but shay
poached it to make sure that we went in
3-3 at half time.
The second half was more of a story of
changing goalkeepers, firstly Ceri dived
and landed awkward on her wrist, she had
to come off and go for an X ray,
thankfully it was just a sprain and
nothing broken. Gaz Griffiths replaced
Ceri only for him to land on his elbow
and knock his funny bone and his fingers
went numb. Iwan swapped with Gaz in goal
so we had 3 keepers in one game.
Our winning goal came from the penalty
spot, Kyle Jones had ran clear and was
brought down in the box, he dusted
himself off and scored in the bottom
corner.

Saturday September 10th
Borras Rangers ( Home ) League
|
A close match today with numerous
chances for both teams in the 1st half,
the game was pretty much played in the
Borras half for the first 20 minutes and
we should have capitalised on the good
pressure, Callum Vaughan went close on
15 minutes only for it to go wide, he
then had a chance going clean through on
goal only to be brought down just
outside the box, how the ref didn't send
the defender off is a mystery.
Borras then broke up the field Ceri came
out and just clipped a Borras player and
the ref awarded a penalty only for them
to thankfully hit the post.
A lack of concentration then took our 2
centre halves going after the same ball,
and it got chipped over them for a
Borras player to finish. We then let a
crazy own goal in at the near post a
minute later leaving us 2-0 down at half
time.
Borras came out well on top in the first
10 mins of the 2nd half putting us under
loads of pressure but we broke up the
field and won a free kick outside the
box. Gaz Griffiths floated the ball in
and Kyle Davies headed to make it 2-1.
We then broke down the wing a couple of
minutes later and Lewis Parry
scored to make it 2-2.
The killer blow came from Borras near
the end when a Borras player ran down
the wing and crossed the ball only too
see it go straight in at the far post.
I couldn't fault the Penycae players
efforts today they all give 100 per
cent.
A special mention to Jake in the Borras
goal who we hope will be ok after a
collision with Lewis Parry, he had to go
to hospital

Saturday September 3rd
Brickfield Rangers ( Home ) League
|
Not the best result for the 1st game of
the season, hopefully it was a one off.
The match started brightly with us
hitting brickfield on the break and
within 5 minutes Kyle Jones had put us
1-0 up.
Then it went seriously pear shaped for
the rest of the half, with brickfield
totally dominating we weren't anywhere
near our best and to be fair to
brickfield they punished every mistake
and had us on the back foot all half
going in 5-1 down at the break.
We made 2 substitutions and a change of
shape we actually came out and battled
well in the 2nd half but after using all
our subs we went down to 10 men when
Callum Vaughan landed on his ankle in
what we thought was ligament damage (
thankfully after an Xray it was only
badly bruised )
The final score ended 6-1 and hopefully
we learnt a lesson in that we need to be
closer marking our man and closing down
a lot quicker
