In Sierra Leone, Class diving Boosts Aberdeen Municipal School
An under-water construction and marine contracting company known as Class diving has boost the Aberdeen Municipal School by donating three sets of football kits worth hundreds of United States Dollars. Handing over the football kits to the pupils on Tuesday 18th October 2010, Class diving Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Anders Peter Hansen, revealed that the football kits were donated to Class diving by a renowned football club based in Wales, Penycae Football Club.

Hi Colin

Many thanks for donating the “nearly new” kits to the children of Africa. They were in excellent condition and will be gratefully received in Tanzania and maybe also in Uganda. As we experienced for ourselves in Ethiopia, the kids are football mad and will really appreciate your kind donation. I know that some of the kits will be going to a High School in Tanzania although because of transport difficulty, the rest of the kits will possibly end up in the neighbouring country of Uganda. The people in these countries are very poor and luxuries such as kits are normally beyond their expectations. However because of your kindness there will be a number of teams proudly running around in Africa bearing the Penycae FC badge. Re-cycling at its very best.

I will do what I can to get a photograph from each of the destinations the kits end up in but this can be a little hit and miss depending upon the remoteness of the final destination.

I have attached a brochure for our own charity although our function in this case has only been to pass the kits on to others to take out to Africa.

Kind regards and the best of luck to the club for the new season,

John Smith.

Dear Colin

Just an update on the kits you provided for sending to Tanzania. I have heard from the lady who requested them and she has informed me that they were unable to send them out to the proposed destination because they were too bulky for the person going out there to transport. However they have found a charity “Kit Aid” who have taken the kits and were very grateful for them. They will find a good home for them somewhere in the Developing World. The charity’s patron is Graham Taylor so they are bona fide and have issued, by way of thanks, a colorful certificate made out to Penycae FC which I will forward to you. Can you please let me have your address.

Having been involved in the youth league some time ago, I know how many clubs there are out there with a surplus of old kits and who might like to follow your example and donate them the kids (and adults) who love the game in Africa, Asia and South America. When I have time or can make the time, I hope to act as a local contact for the charity and will circulate their details to clubs in the local youth leagues and maybe also to the clubs in the adult leagues.

Thanks again for your help. Sorry the kits did not end up where we thought they would but they will be put to very good use.

Regards,

John Smith.
