Penycae started brightly and playing
within themselves set about breaking down the Brymbo
defence. Arron Davies finally broke the deadlock after
20 minutes. A second soon followed with a well taken
goal from Michael Halley. Then following a corner kick a
Tim Manuel close range effort made the score 3-0 after
30 minutes. Then following some sloppy defending they
allowed the opposition a gift goal on the stroke of half
time to leave the score 3-1 at the interval. The
visitors strolled through the start of the second half
without really hurting the opposition before Keiran
Duckett finally added a fourth. Brymbo did pull a goal
back but the match finally ended 4-2 to give Penycae all
three points.

Home ) Welsh Cup
Penycae started slowly and after 5
minutes following a defensive lapse conceded a goal from
a corner. The home side began to build some pressure and
were rewarded when Mark Latham fired in a spectacular
free kick from 35 yards. Despite creating more chances
the score remained 1-0 until half time. The second half
saw Penycae finally take the lead when Ian Andrews
scored with a well taken header from a corner. A third
goal arrived when Arron Davies fired in to make the
score 3-1 and book there passage into the next round.

League
Penycae started very brightly
keeping possession well against a well organised Overton
side. They finally made the breakthrough after 20mins
when Mike Halley was brought down in the box and Ian
Andrews stepped up to score from the spot. A second soon
followed when Mike Latham fired through a crowd of
players. Following some poor defending from a corner
Overton pulled a goal back and then just on the stroke
of half time an Overton player put through his own goal
from a corner to leave the score 3-1 at the interval.
The second half saw Overton draw level when they scored
twice after some poor defending from the home side. At
this stage the visitors looked more likely to grab the
winner until Rob Ackerley in the 93rd minute launched a
free kick into the Overton penalty area which in the
ensuing scramble saw Michael Griffiths chest the ball
down and drill in absolute beauty into the bottom corner
to seal the game and give Penycae a fortunate three
points.

Away ) Welsh Trophy Cup
Playing on tricky pitch conditions Penycae
started brightly and took control with goals from Ian
Andrews and Steven Brooke in the first ten minutes.
Further goals followed from Kevin Edwards and Martin
Plant to take the score to 4-0 to the half time break.
Complacency set in at the start of the second half and
Penycae conceded a sloppy goal following a defensive mix
up. The visitors regrouped and added a fifth from Martin
Plant to complete a 5-1 win to book a place in the
next round.

Tuesday August 17th Llangollen ( Away
) League
Game started brightly for Penycae only thing missing
from extensive early pressure was a goal. This finally
arrived in the 20th minute when Steven Brooke scored with an opportunist strike.
Further pressure ensued with a second goal coming from Ian Andrews following a
poor back pass. More pressure and chances came but the score remained 2-0 till
half time. The second half was more of the same before Shaun Pemberton scored
with a header from an excellent free kick from Ian Bowyer. A flowing move
resulted in a second goal for the impressive Ian Andrews making the score 4-0.
Penycae then took there foot off the pedal resulting in a couple of half chances
for the home side, but the game eventually finished 4-0.
